State Adaptations
Homeschooling rules vary by state. The SixthGrade plan is built to satisfy the most common reporting models with no extra busywork — pick the group that matches your state and follow the guidance below.
Notification-only states
AL, AK, AZ, CA (PSP/affidavit), CO, DE, ID, IN, IA, KS, KY, MS, MO, MT, NV, NJ, NM, OK, TX, UT, WI, WY
File your annual letter of intent. No portfolio required, but keep weekly samples — the curriculum's milestones double as proof of progress.
Portfolio / sample-work states
FL, LA, MD, MA, MN, NC, ND, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, VT, VA, WV
Save one math, one ELA, one science, and one social-studies sample per quarter. The Q1–Q4 culminating projects each meet portfolio requirements on their own.
Standardized-testing states
AR, GA, HI, NH, NY (with IHIP), RI, SD, WA
The curriculum is aligned to CCSS, NGSS, and C3 — students sit for any state-approved standardized test (Stanford 10, IOWA, CAT) without supplemental prep.
